The "Cultura y las Playas de Sri Lanka" itinerary is an 8-night, 9-day journey that immerses travelers in the rich cultural heritage and pristine beaches of Sri Lanka. The adventure begins in Colombo, followed by a transfer to Kandy, where visitors experience traditional Sinhalese dance performances. In Pinnawala, the itinerary includes a visit to the Elephant Orphanage, offering a unique opportunity to observe and feed elephants. The journey continues to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, showcasing diverse flora. Travelers then explore the Dambulla Cave Temples, renowned for their ancient Buddhist murals and statues. A highlight is the ascent of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The itinerary also features a visit to the historic Dutch Fort in Galle and concludes with relaxation on the serene beaches of Negombo, providing a balanced blend of cultural exploration and beach leisure.

Itinerary

Arrival at Colombo Airport. Baggage claim, welcome by our English-speaking guide and transfer to the hotel in Kandy. In the afternoon, we will attend a performance of the famous Sinhalese dances. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel, then visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage, one of Sri Lanka's most popular attractions. Arrive early in the morning to have the chance to see how the elephants are fed fruit and we will have the opportunity to feed it to the elephants and later, the whole herd is led to the river for a bath. We will return to Kandy to visit the Peredeniya Botanical Gardens. Lunch at a local restaurant. Kandy is well known as the place of craftsmen, we will be lucky to see the largest Blue Star Sapphire in the world in a gem museum and expand our knowledge of the world's precious stones. After the visit, there will be time to wander around the center, visiting the main market of Kandy, where you can see the authentic life of the Sinhalese. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. First we will visit the fascinating Temple of the Tooth of Buddha, Dalada Maligawa. If possible, it would be a good idea to wear white clothes. Buddhists wear white clothes when they go to the Buddhist temple, so as not to have different classes inside the temple and it is also very peaceful to see everyone in white clothes. Departure to Habarana. First, we will visit a spice garden where we will learn to cook a delicious and typical curry dish. Lunch at a local restaurant. On the way we will visit the five caves of Dambulla, better known as the Golden Temple. Upon arrival in Habarana, check-in at your hotel. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will have to get up early to be able to climb Sigiriya, the Lion Rock, early in the morning. This way we will avoid the crowds and the heat. Afterwards, we will head to the second ancient capital, to see the ancient palaces, temples, stupas and statues carved into the rock. Lunch at a local restaurant. We will visit Polonnaruwa, the famous and impressive statues of the Buddhas of Gal Vihara, three enormous statues carved into a rock wall, which stand out for their detail and impact for their size. The first and second of these statues represent a seated Buddha in a meditation position; while the third and largest, 14 meters long, represents the reclining figure. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Colombo. In a typical textile shop, we will be allowed to dress in typical costumes of the country. Afterwards we will head to Colombo for a panoramic tour. We will take a panoramic tour (by car) of the capital, Colombo, visiting the characteristic places of Colombo such as the most elegant residential part, called Cinnamon Gardens, the Viharamahadevi Park, the Hindu Temple, the Galle Face Promenade, Independence Square and the emblematic BMICH International Convention Hall. Lunch at a local restaurant. Departure to Galle and check-in to your hotel. Accommodation at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by road to Galle to visit the Dutch Fort. Then we will go to Koggala to see the incredible and fascinating way in which the fishermen of this area fish, standing on a narrow pole and anchored between the waves of the beach. Continue to Tissamaharama [the Yala National Park]. Lunch at a local restaurant. Departure by 4x4 vehicle to visit the Yala National Park. Depending on luck we can see leopards, bears, elephants, crocodiles, many kinds of birds and all kinds of animals that exist in Sri Lanka. Return to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure by road to Ella village. On the way we will stop to take photos of the Rawana waterfall. Arriving at Ella village we will do two very interesting activities, one is trekking Little Adams Peak and the other is the famous nine-arch bridge. Lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Haputale. Arriving at the hotel as it is on the mountain with beautiful views, how can we forget the English tradition, here we will have a High Tea with typical Sri Lankan sweets. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Breakfast. Departure to the mountains known as “little England”, whose Sinhalese name is Nuwara Eliya. We will take the Famous Train and make the most beautiful journey through the tea plantations. At midday we will arrive in the city and enjoy a walk through the city and depending on the weather we will walk around Gregory Lake. Lunch at a local restaurant. Then we will continue to Negombo, on the way, we will pick tea leaves in a plantation and visit a factory to see first-hand the treatment and production of the highly appreciated and famous Sri Lankan tea. Then, departure to Negombo and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
