Itinerary
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, the beautiful capital of the Kingdom of Nepal. After clearing the airport formalities, transfer to the hotel, take a break and freshen up. Overnight at the hotel
After breakfast, visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, the historical seat of Nepalese royalty built between the 12th - 18th centuries. Durbar Square is famous for its exquisite architecture, museums, temples and artistic ornaments. You also have a chance to buy some interesting souvenirs. Also, visit Swayambhunath Stupa, one of the oldest Buddhist Chaityas in the world, acclaimed to be more than 2500 years old. Situated on a hillock, 3 km west of Kathmandu, this is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal. In the afternoon, visit Patan Durbar Square. Patan is known for its museums, temples and the superb craftsmanship of its artisans. Patan Durbar Square has been acclaimed as one of the finest cityscapes in the world. Overnight at hotel
After breakfast, visit Pashupatinath Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the holiest Hindu temples in the world. Although only Hindus are allowed inside the temple, visitors can clearly see the temple and the activities going on inside from the eastern bank of the Bagmati River. Also, visit Boudhanath Stupa, meaning "Lord of Wisdom." This Tibetan Buddhist monument is the largest stupa in Nepal and one of the largest in the world. Then, drive north, east of Kathmandu, to Nagarkot (approx. 2200 meters). Nagarkot is famous for its panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, including a distant pyramid of Mount Everest (subject to weather conditions). Upon arrival in Nagarkot, check-in at your hotel. Overnight at hotel
Early this morning, enjoy spectacular sunrise views of the Himalayan peaks at Nagarkot. This is the best close range vantage point of the Himalayas from anywhere in the Kathmandu Valley. After breakfast, depart for Kathmandu. En route visit Bhaktapur (approx. 1 hour drive from Kathmandu). Bhaktapur was the ancient capital of the valley, and was once a flourishing town on the trade route to Tibet. Today, Bhaktapur is like an open-air museum with large areas open to pedestrian access - it is a storehouse of medieval art and architecture. Interesting places to explore include the famous Durbar Square, the Golden Gate at the 55-windowed palace, Potters Square where you will find the elephant-headed Ganesha temple, believed to be the patron saint of potters in Nepal. Bhaktapur is home to a variety of Hindu and Buddhist temples, including the largest Shiva Linga in Nepal. You can also see artisans engaged in traditional Bhaktapur crafts of pottery and weaving. Then continue departure to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Overnight stay at hotel
